All submissions to Phreedom Books must adhere to the following guidelines.
Submissions must contain gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender/transsexual, queer, questioning, intersexed, and/or gender variant characters.
Each submission must include a cover page with the following information.
(if this information is not included, your submission will not be considered)
- Name of Submission
- Author's Legal Name
- Author's Pseudonym (if available)
- Author's Contact information (address, phone number, email address, and website - if available)
All information will be treated with the strictest confidence. All submissions not accepted will be disposed of in a confidential manner.
Electronic submission is the only way to submit works at this time, all works need to be in an attachment in .doc, .txt, .rtf, etc format. Follow the following guidelines for submitting via email.

We are not currently soliciting novels but are accepting unsolicited manuscripts. All fiction manuscripts must adhere to the general guidelines listed above to be considered. Manuscripts should be between 40,000 - 100,000 words. Attach the first three chapters and last chapter of your manuscript. Also please follow cover page guidelines listed above.
Collection of Poetry / Single Poems
Collections of poetry must be submitted as one document. Single poems need to be submitted as separate documents with no more than 3 poems per submission. Each poem should not exceed two pages, single spaced, 12 pt times roman font. Single poems will be paid a base price of $10/poem and a copy of the collection your poem was published. Also please follow cover page guidelines listed above. For single poem submissions only one poem need to include the cover page.
Short Stories
We are only accepting short stories for current anthologies, click here for open anthologies. Please only attach one story per email. Stories should be between 1500 - 4000 words. Current compensation for stories is $25/story and a copy of the anthology upon publication. Also please follow cover page guidelines listed above.
We will reject submissions that are clearly a copyright infringement, including any that have obviously been converted from fanfiction or that are based on TV shows, movies or literary characters and submissions that do not follow writers guidelines. While we appreciate experimental stories and a wide range of sexual practices, please no bodily functions such as sca,t etc. Erotic horror is acceptable, but graphic sexual torture will be refused (BDSM not included).
Please remember, that current projects take precedence, and while we will acknowledge all submissions in a timely manner, it may take some time for one of our editors to review your work.
